Due to a scheduling conflict the "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" fundraiser at Nitro High School has been canceled. To our knowledge the city of Nitro's Easter egg hunt is still on.

Hall of Achievement Announcement
Nitro High School is seeking nominations for our new Hall of Achievement. The purpose of this endeavor is to showcase people who have attended NHS in the past, and recognize success in their chosen field. A search committee is in the initial stages of qualifying worthy candidates to be nominated for the fall of 2016 awards.
The criteria is as follows:
*The nominee must have attended Nitro High School, at a minimum of 20 years ago.
*The nominee has achieved proven success in the field of business, industry, sports, the arts, community service, military, or other.
*The nominee must be willing, if physically possible, to come and speak to current NHS students, as part of our LOVE - LEARNING - LEADERSHIP initiative.

The Hall of Achievement will be on display at the school main entrance and will feature an 80 inch television that will constantly stream the members life achievements. Students at Nitro High School will be producing and maintaining all the video content for the Hall of Achievement. Students will also be creating the plaques that will be permanently displaying the names and likeness of the members.

TEEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUMMIT
Nitro High School has at least 2 scholarships to attend a week long residential learning experience this summer from June 19-25. This is an amazing opportunity to gain work-based learning experience and service-learning while having a blast and making a ton of new friends. This is open to all students. Show Choir Performance

Congratulations to Cassie Stewart for being elected to the West Virginia DECA State Officer Delegate Team for the 2016-2017 year. This process included an employment package, interview, campaign, and speech to West Virginia DECA members at the State Career Development Conference held March 13th and 14th. It was a hard fought race and you prevailed!

On Saturday, The Nitro Showcats traveled to Beckley to compete in the WVMEA State Show Choir Competition. The Nitro Showcats competed against 11 other schools, and won several caption awards including:

State Swim Meet Results
Zack Fraley 6th place 100m Butterfly and Nick Fraley 8th place 100m butterfly. Our relay team included Zack Fraley, Nick Fraley, Max Ross, and Cameron Klem placed 9th in the 200 medley relay, 12th in the 400 freestyle relay, and 13th in the 200 freestyle relay. Great job and way to represent Nitro High School!
Student Athletes
Congratulations to Devin Hanna and Zack Fraley. Devin is signing with Fairmont State to play Football. Zack has verbally committed to Swim for D&E. Nitro wishes these two the best of luck.
