Poetry Out Loud

Any students interested in Poetry Out Loud need to sign up with Mrs. Gordon (room 201) on Thursday 11/5 and Friday 11/6 in lab. The school competition will be November 20th starting at 8am; you must know 3 poems. 1- 25 lines or fewer; 2- pre-19th century; 3-your choice. CASH prizes awarded: $75 1st place and bid to the state competition in March; 2nd place $50; 3rd place $25

Fruit Sale

The Nitro High School Marching Band is having their annual fruit sale.  Please see Mr. Brooks, or any member of the band for information.

Canned Food Drive

Students, don't forget our canned food drive.  We sure don't want to let those Red Dragons win the contest.  Turn in cans to your 8th period teacher.  Remember, while this is a contest, it's also a way you can help people in our community that are going through a tough time.

Cathy Harless-Fall Blood Drive

The Nitro Fall Blood Drive will be November 19th in the gym.  Students can sign up in my room (209) anytime during the day and after school till 3:30. If we get between 71 to 100 good pints of blood the American Red Cross will donate $500.00 towards a scholarship.  All students, 16 and up are encouraged to participate.  Not only will you be helping in the quest to save a life, you could also receive a scholarship towards money for college! (Parental consent is mandatory for 16 yr olds.)

Battle of the Bridge

This Friday for the Battle of the Bridge will be a white out!! Be sure to be at the St. Albans Football field by 7:10pm on Friday to take part in our pregame activities.

Baton Twirling Team

Practice for the Baton Twirling Team will be Wednesday from 3-4:30 in the choir room.  Please be dressed in black, hair back, and tennis shoes and bring a baton. 

Swing Sing-November 15, 2015

Tickets are now available for Swing Sing.  Date, time, and location:  Sunday November 15, 2015, Charleston Municipal Auditorium, Showtime is at 2:30pm.  Tickets are available in the choir room or with any Showcat member for $8.00.  

Cheer Competition

Congratulations to the NHS Cheerleaders for doing an awesome job at the GW Invitational Cheer Competition. Come out to support our girls this Saturday at Cabel Midland where they compete at Regionals. Good Luck ladies!
