The NHS academic team won 3rd place at the state tournament this weekend! Congratulations to Cameron Kiner, Haley Sapp, Erica Larijani, Lacie Fogarty, and Behren Franks for a job well done!

Prom

Prom tickets are on sale! Make sure to get them early at a lower price! Students, this is going to be a fantastic prom, and you will not want to miss out. Date of prom is May 7. Tickets are now 30$ and you can get them in room 215 from Mrs. Kerber!

March LSIC Date

We have rescheduled our March LSIC meeting for March 21st at 6pm.

Prom Tickets

Prom tickets are currently on sale in Room 215. The prom will be May 7th, and the price is 25$ per ticket. Monday, the prices will go up. Make sure not to miss out on the lowest price. See Mrs. Kerber for information and tickets today!

Cheer 2016-17

Anyone interested in coming out for Cheer next year needs to be in attendance at the meeting today during anchor. It will be held in Mrs. Kerber's room 215. Please be prompt, and remember guys and girls are both encouraged!

Student Council

Mandatory Student Council meeting will be held in Room 209 on March 19th from 10 am to 12 pm. All officers must be in attendance!

Showcats State Champs

On Saturday, The Nitro Showcats traveled to Beckley to compete in the WVMEA State Show Choir Competition.  The Nitro Showcats competed against 11 other schools, and won several caption awards including:
Best Costumes
Best Choreography
Best Choral Sound
Louisa Smith won Best Female Soloist
Bronson Dempsey won Best Instrumental Soloist
Dylan Carpenter won Best Performer

Finally the scores were announced and NITRO HIGH SCHOOL SHOWCATS were announced as STATE GRAND CHAMPIONS.  Yes, Nitro has won their first STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, DE THRONING OUR RIVALS 5 MINUTES AWAY---POCA VISUAL VOLUME FROM THEIR MANY YEAR REIGN AS STATE CHAMPIONS!!!

Blood Drive

Nitro High School is sponsoring another Blood Drive April 14th in the main gym from 8 am to 2 pm. You can sign up now in Room 209 for your appointment. 16 year olds and up can register.

NHS Hall of Achievement Announcement

Hall of Achievement Announcement

Nitro High School is seeking nominations for our new Hall of Achievement.  The purpose of this endeavor is to showcase people who have attended NHS in the past, and recognize success in their chosen field.  A search committee is in the initial stages of qualifying worthy candidates to be nominated for the fall of 2016 awards.

The criteria is as follows:

    *The nominee must have attended Nitro High School, at a minimum of 20 years ago.

    *The nominee has achieved proven success in the field of business, industry, sports, the arts, community service, military, or other.

    *The nominee must be willing, if physically possible, to come and speak to current NHS students, as part of our LOVE - LEARNING - LEADERSHIP initiative.

The Hall of Achievement will be on display at the school main entrance and will feature an 80 inch television that will constantly stream the members life achievements.  Students at Nitro High School will be producing and maintaining all the video content for the Hall of Achievement.  Students will also be creating the plaques that will be permanently displaying the names and likeness of the members.
