NHS DECA

Please come out and support NHS DECA in their first annual corn hole tournament. Teams of 2 people will be competing on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 4:30-6:30. This tournament will take place before the Senior Night Football game on Nitro High Soccer Field. The cost is $20.00 a team. The winning team will receive a cash prize! All proceeds will support Nitro High DECA students for future competitions.

ASVAB Career Exploration

ATTENTION ALL SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, AND SENIORS: 

THE ASVAB CAREER EXPLORATION/APTITUDE TEST WILL BE ADMINISTERED ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH FROM 8:30AM-12:00PM IN THE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. THIS TEST, ONE OF THE BEST OF ITS KIND IN THE UNITED STATES, IS ADMINISTERED AT NO COST, AND INCLUDES EIGHT INDIVIDUAL AREAS FOR CAREER APTITUDE, ASSESSMENT, AND IDENTIFICATION. IT IS ALSO A VALUABLE TOOL USED IN PREPARING FOR THE ACT THAT IS REQUIRED FOR COLLEGE ENTRANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS! 

YOUR DECISION TO ENTER COLLEGE, TECHNICAL OR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL, MILITARY SERVICE OR THE CIVILIAN WORKFORCE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL IS AN IMPORTANT ONE AND THE ASVAB CAREER EXPLORATION TEST CAN BE OF SIGNIFICANT BENEFIT IN HELPING YOU TO FIND AND CHOOSE THE RIGHT CAREER FOR YOU!

REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN LATER THIS WEEK. TO REGISTER, YOU WILL CONTACT YOUR COUNSELORS, SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS OR MAJOR PARK IN AFJROTC (ROOM 112). REGISTRATION WILL BE EASY—ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS SCAN THE QR CODE, FILL OUT A BRIEF FORM, AND SUBMIT!

RHO KAPPA

Applications for membership to RHO KAPPA Social Studies Honor Society are now being accepted for consideration. If you would like to apply to become a member of RHO KAPPA, please pick up an application packet in the office. Applications are due to Ms. Chandler in Room 212 by October 19th.

Financial Aid Workshop

We will hosting a Financial Aid Workshop this Tuesday, October 2nd at 6pm. Experts will be on hand to discuss the financial process and how to pay for higher education. Learn about the specifics when it comes to grants, scholarships and loans.

Tux and Drape

Tux and Drape pictures for graduation and the yearbook will be taken this Friday during school. Please check the list posted on Schoology to see what time you are scheduled. If your name is not on the list, see Ms.Grant immediately.

Homecoming Dance

The Homecoming Dance for Nitro High School will take place on Saturday October 6, 2018 from 8:00-11:00 in the Commons. We have surpassed the amount of tickets necessary to hold the dance, so it is definitely a go. Don't miss out on the first Homecoming Dance Nitro has had in a number of years. It's going to be a great time. Tickets are on sale now for $15.00, and are sold in the auditorium. Guest forms may also be picked up now.

Homecoming Voting

Students, you have until Wednesday at noon to vote for Homecoming attendant for your class. Use the link in Schoology to cast your vote.

Showchoir

The Show Choir is currently looking for 5 more boys for show choir, along with 3 more trumpets, 2 trombone players, and a synthesizer player. Please see Ms. Amy in room B126 for information.

Homecoming Dance

 The 2018 Nitro High School Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 from 8:00-11:00 pm in the Commons.
Ticket Price is $15.00 per person.
Music by AAA Entertainment, and food will be provided.
Attire will be Semi-Formal. (Dressy attire, but not a formal event).
Tickets can be purchased beginning Monday August 27th in the Show Choir Room. B126 in Baker.

Dance Team

If you are interested in becoming a member of the NHS Dance Team, the tryout clinic begins today, May 9th, at 4:30 in the gym and continues May 10th at 4:30. Tryouts are on May 11th at 5:00 in the gym.
