Senior Baby Pictures

Friday, October 31st is the deadline to turn in your baby pictures for graduation.  Turn your picture into Mrs. Petry or Ms. Mann or send them via email.  Please select a picture of when you were a baby or toddler.  If you can't pick, bring two in and be surprised of which one was selected at graduation!

ACT PLAN

Sophomores, don't forget we are taking the ACT PLAN tomorrow.  Report directly to the auditorium for first period.  Bring a calculator and a couple of #2 pencils.

College Colors Day

Students and staff, College Colors Day is Thursday, Oct. 23rd.  Wear the colors of your favorite college or university.  Represent!

Apply to Concord University for free this week!

In celebration of West Virginia's College Application and Exploration Week, Concord University is waiving their application fee for this week only.  If you are interested in Concord, it's a great time to apply online!

Weekly Announcements for the week of Oct 20

Seniors – We need to make the “Big Picture” on Friday look as good as possible! Wear your red or black shirts to show your Nitro Senior Pride!

Congratulations to the Nitro Band! The band performed at 2 competitions on Saturday. The band received 3^rd place percussion & 2^nd place flags at Marshall University. The band also performed at WV State for the Cavalcade of Bands festival and received the following awards in the yankee class: 1^st place percussion, 1^st place drum major, 1^st place flags, 1^st place band overall. Out of 13 bands, Nitro was 1^st runner up Grand Champion overall!

2014-2015 yearbooks are on sale now until October 31^st. $65 is the cost in room 109.

Starting this week NHS will be collecting candy for the City Halloween Hoedown. Candy will be collected in every 8^th period and at the end of the week, the class who collects the most bags will win free slushies! Help out the city of Nitro, and don’t forget your candy.

Key club members, please continue to bring in candy corn!

Key club members dues are due to Mrs. Gordon by Friday 10/24. Please bring them to her any time in room 201.

The ACT PLAN will be given in the auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd to all 10th grade students.  Sophomores, do your best and get some invaluable feedback!  The test begins at 7:35 a.m.

College Representative Schedule

A representative from Marshall University will be in the lunchroom during both lunches on Monday, October 20th. The $30 application fee will be waived.

A representative from WV Junior College will be in the lunchroom during both lunches on Tuesday, October 21st.

A representative from Radford University will be in the counseling center at 12:15 on Tuesday, October 21st. Students must sign up with Mrs. Lester  before the 21st.

Announcements Week of Oct. 13

• Underclassman pictures are in you need to pick them up in room 109
• There will be a softball meeting immediately after school today 8/15/14. All girls need to be there.
• Seniors- The “Big Picture” will be taken on Friday, Oct. 24. You will get order forms in your Civics class today. Order forms can be turned in directly to the photographer on picture day.
• Thursday, October 16th, there will be a student council meeting during lunch.
• Key Club members please continue to bring in candy corn! Dues are due to Mrs. Gordon by Friday 10/24. Please bring them to her anytime in Room 106.
