Nitro High School students will be receiving their iPad's on January 14, 2015. We have set a parent meeting, regarding the iPad Deployment for January 8, 2015 at 6:00pm in the auditorium. Please spread the word regarding this meeting.
Paperwork regarding the deployment will be going home with the student when they return to school in January. All paperwork must be completed and returned to the students social studies teacher before January 14, 2015.
Parents will have the option to purchase a Damage/Loss Waiver at a cost of $40 a year. The waiver also includes a $50 deductible for each incident of damage/loss. If the optional waiver is not purchased the parent is responsible for the cost device repair/replacement.

New Lunch Proceedures
Nitro High School will be having 2 lunches for the remainder of the school year.
Students are not to take cafeteria food into the hallways unless a student is approved to eat in a teacher's classroom.
Please no sitting in the hallways
Students are not allowed in the Gymnasium or behind the Gymnasium during lunch
Students are to stay on the lower patio in the front of the building. The front door and sidewalks are off limits
If a parent/guardian is dropping off food to a student please pull into the parking lot and meet the student at the new cafeteria/parking lot entrance. NPD has ask that cars not stop on Park Avenue to drop off food.
Students my sit on the benches in the back hallway but we are asking students not to go beyond the auditorium.
Due to lack of supervision the library will not be open to students at lunch.
The breezeway and the Baker building are off limits during lunch.

New Nitro High School Bell Schedule that will take effect on January 5th, 2015
Starting January 5th, 2014 Nitro High School will have a unified start time. School will start at 7:30am every day of the week. Students will have 90 minute block classes on Thursday (Odds) and Friday (Evens). We will have 2 lunches every day of the week. The students lunch will be determined by the students 5th period on Monday - Thursday and 6th period on Friday.

DECA MEETING Friday during lunch. It is not too late to
join! $13 DECA dues to Mrs. Marshall as soon as possible.
Starting today, the Nitro Student Council will be collecting
toys for children in the area to be distributed by the Nitro Police Dept. We
are asking that each grade level bring 50 toys into either Mrs. Harless in Rm
209 or give to Officer Blake in the office If we collect 200 toys we will get a
visit from Santa Cop and his helper elves.
Rho Kappa dues need to be turned into Mrs. Simpson by
Friday, December 12th. Dues are $10.
ATTENTION SENIORS: Senior pictures are due to Mrs. Petry or
Haylee Hanna by December 19th. Also, if you haven’t turned in your
baby picture, you need to do so as soon as possible.
Winter formal tickets will be sold during both lunches in
the commons the rest of the month. $25 singles and $50 couples buy them now, in
January singles becomes $30 and couples $60.
ATTENTION AFJROTC: There will be tutoring after school in
the AFJROTC classroom today and every Tuesday from 3:00-4:30PM with special
emphasis in math.

Free Leadership Seminar for a 10th Grader!
10 Grade: We are looking for a sophomore student interested in attending a FREE leadership seminar this summer @ Marshall University. Interested students can see Mrs. Watson in the counseling office for more information. You must submit a 1-2 page essay, topic "What does it take to be a leader?" by Friday, Dec. 5th. The Kanawha Valley Spartans Lacrosse Club is looking for
players for the 2015 spring season. Any Kanawha Valley high school student who
attends a school that does not offer lacrosse may sign up. All info is in

Listen up Wildcats! There will be a Cheerleading Tryout held
on November 22nd for anyone who wants to cheer this Basketball
Season. Interested? Cheer Clinics will be held on Tuesday 18th,
Wednesday 19th, and Friday 21st. The three cheer clinics
will be mandatory if you want to tryout. A brief meeting to gain more
information will be held Monday 17th in Kerber’s Room 204 @ 3:00.

become a contender, so we have put together programs to keep the Athletes
Physical Body, Skill level and mental toughness sharp in the offseason and
prepare them for next seasons tryouts. We will also take any questions that you

New announcements for 10/30/14
Rho Kappa meeting has been moved to Monday 11/3 after
school.
The key club will kick off the annual food drive this Friday
night at the football game. Please bring cans and other non-perishable food
items to help fill up a truck in the parking lot.
Not only is it the LAST home football game it’s Halloween!
Come to the game dressed in your cutest and scariest costumes. The person
dressed in the best costume will win: a $25 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings!!
