Jaime's Law Suicide Prevention

On Tuesday, September 1st,  during your child's English class they will be presented with information on suicide prevention. A new state requirement, Jamie's Law, states that all secondary students must be presented with information, and provided with an opportunity to have a discussion.
Students and parents have access to a brochure in several ways:

Academy Day 2015

Academy Day 2015 will be held for any and all students, parents and school officials interested in learning more about U.S. service academies (Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, Military/West Point, Naval). We will also have representatives from local ROTC programs on hand to discuss ROTC scholarship opportunities. 

Join us at Senator Capito’s Academy Day to learn more about service academies (Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Military (W. Point) and Naval) and ROTC scholarships! No Registration Required.

Flag Football Fundraiser

Pep Club Meeting this Wednesday

Pep Club members that are able to stay after school Wednesday, need to meet in Ms. Chandler's room 212.  We will be making posters for the game on Friday.

First Home Boys Soccer Game @ 5:30 tonight

Please come out and support the boys as they take on Sissonville tonight at 5:30.  Our Girls Soccer team plays at Sissonvile tonight in their first contest.

Tailgate on the Wildside

"Tailgate on the Wildside" Friday 5:00 to 7:30 at the soccer field shelter.  The menu is Barbeque on a bun, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, drink, dessert, for $10.00.  Food by T and M Meats.  We will have carry out boxes as well.    See a Showcats member to purchase your tickets.

Pre Sale Football Tickets

We will be selling adult and student tickets for the football game during both lunches in the commons on Thursday and Friday.  Student tickets will be $5 at the school and $6 at the gate.  Buy your tickets early to avoid the line and to save a dollar.

There will be a short meeting today after school in the commons for signups. Thursday will be the first day of practice. Students will need a physical, proof of insurance.

All grades will be taking individual class pictures for purchase and the yearbook on Tuesday, August 18 during Social Studies class.  Picture form packets from Lifetouch will be coming home this Wednesday.  Payment is due on Tuesday, August 18.  All students will have their picture taken even if a package is not purchased.

If you are interested in Pep Club, please complete the application at the link below.  Once you have completed the form, please see Mr. Burdette or Ms. Chandler to pay your fees.  You can pay your fees before school.  If you are purchasing the full year option, please complete your application and pay your fees by the end of the day on August 14th, to guarantee your t-shirt for our first football game.

PEP Club stands for “Promote Enthusiastic Pride.”  The PEP Club of Nitro High School is the backbone of our school spirit and it is their role to motivate and encourage the participation of the student body in school related events.  We want to create an energetic atmosphere during all of our sporting events. The bigger the PEP Club, the more thrilling sporting events will be.

PEP Club welcomes everyone! As a member of PEP Club, you are asked to attend all home sporting events and wear one of your Nitro t-shirts.  We ask that you participate cheering on our Wildcats, from the Wildside.
