Inauguration Trip Meeting

 There will be an informational meeting about the Inauguration Trip tonight at 7pm in the Commons for those registered for the AP Gov Class for the 2016-2017 Seniors.

Information for the 2017 Presidential Inauguration trip to Washington, DC

The 2017 Presidential Inauguration will be an important part of history and Ms. Chandler is planning a trip  for the Nitro senior students.  You and your child are invited to an informational meeting on Monday, February 29 at 7:00 PM in the Nitro HS commons to learn about the details of this trip.   If unable to attend please have your child contact Ms. Chandler.

Tonight's Basketball Game

Don't forget to wear lavender tonight to the Boys Basketball game at 7:30 as they take on Poca. We will be collecting donations of new blankets and new stuffed animals to donate to local cancer patients! Lets show everyone that Wildcats Stand Together!!

Math Field Day Winners

Congratulations to Danielle Witt and Will Click who qualified to compete at the regional Math Field Day. Also Congrats to Chris Klocke who finished as the first alternate.

Reduced Student Ticket Price for Sectional Girls Basketball Game

The first 75 students to see Mr. Samuel tomorrow during school will be able to purchase their ticket to the home girl's basketball sectional game for $2 instead of $5. The game is Monday at 7:00 against Point Pleasant. We will also be honoring Andrew Jackson Middle School's girls basketball team that just won the County championship at halftime. Bring your $2 and see Mr. Samuel tomorrow at school! #nitronation

"Sharing Time for Life's Hurts"

Do you have things that are bothering you, but you are afraid of telling anyone. Now you can! Monday, Feb 22 will be our first time for "Sharing Time for Life's Hurts". Everyone is welcome to join us, we will be in the auditorium during both lunches. We know in the last couple weeks we have some things happening I those we care about. Remember Wildcats we are NOT alone! Hope to see you tomorrow, whether it is to share a story or simply listen.

Congratulations to the Nitro High School Math Field Day participants.  They competed yesterday against all other Kanawha County high schools and placed the following:
Danielle Witt was 3rd against all 8th and 9th graders
Will Click was 8th against all 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
Chris Klocke came in as an alternate.

All three will compete in the Regional Math Field Day competition.  We are proud of all the participants from Nitro High!

Tennis Meeting

 There will be a Tennis meeting for all parents and players on Monday February 29th at 5:30 in the Commons.

Yearbooks!

Get your yearbooks tomorrow from Ms. Grant for $75 cash or money order and receive your name on the cover for free.  If you have already purchased your yearbook, you can pay $5 to have it added.  See Ms. Grant in B101 to purchase!

National Honor Society Applications

National Honor Society applications are due to Ms. Grant in room B101 by 3:00 pm tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 12.  No exceptions will be made for the deadline.  Remember, community service hours need to be recorded with Mr. Shamblin by tomorrow at 3:00 pm as well.

PSAT Test Takers

Students who took the PSAT need to see Mr. Hayhurst in the Counseling Center to receive their score sheets.

2016-17 Cheerleading

For anyone who is interested in cheering next year, for the 2016-2017 season, there will be a meeting held in room 215 right after school on Thursday, March 10th. Guys and girls are both encouraged to tryout next year. For any questions, come see Mrs. Kerber in room 215.

Important Information Regarding Winter Formal Location Change

Winter Formal will now be in Riggleman Hall, Rotunda, at the University of Charleston this Saturday, February 6th from 8 to 11.

Pep Club Cards

Be sure to purchase your Second Semester Pep Club Cards for $30. The Second Semester Pep Club card allows you to attend any home sporting event at Nitro High School, except for play-off games. See Ms. Chandler or Mr. Burdette to purchase your card.

Kanawha Valley Lacrosse Meeting: There will be a mandatory meeting Friday, February 5th at 6:00 PM at the South Charleston Rec Center. Stop by the front office for an informational flyer.
