Yearbook

Congratulation to the 2016 yearbook staff for winning seven awards in the Marshall University School of Journalism yearbook competition. Our book took home the following seven awards…winning more than any other school and placing first or second in EVERY division.

Hot Dog and Bake Sale

The Academic Team is having a hot dog & bake sale at the Nitro Walmart this Sunday, April 2 from 11:30 to 3:30. Come support the team as they raise money for Nationals in Washington, DC!

Cheerleading

All Cheerleading Uniforms need to be turned in by March 28th. Please see Mrs. Kerber in room 215 to turn in the cheerleading uniforms--make sure they are correctly packaged and labeled. Failure to turn in your uniforms results you to being added to the NHS Debt List.

Porm Committee Meeting

There will be a Prom Committee Meeting next Wednesday (March 29th) in room 215.

RHO Kappa

RHO Kappa will be collecting items to make care packages for our troops. Please bring in crossword puzzles, pens, shaving cream, razors, deodorant, Pringles, unscented baby wipes, sun screen or any non-perishable food item from March 27 to March 31. You may drop off your donations to RHO Kappa members during both lunches. See Ms. Chandler or Mrs. Simpson for more information.

RHO Kappa members that have yet to pay dues need to see Ms. Chandler or Mrs. Simpson, ASAP.

ShowCat's Dinner Theater and Competition Results

Save the date now for our Annual Nitro ShowCat and SophistiCat Dinner Theater. Come out for a great dinner and a great time at Beni Kedem on April 23rd. Show times will be 12:30, 3:30, and 6:00. Ticket Price is $18.00, a reserved table for $250.00. Menu will be River's Edge Baked Steak, mashed potatoes, green beens, rolls, salad, dessert, and beverage. Silent Auction will be available also. Please come out and support these wonderful young men and women. Tickets will be available from any ShowCat or SophistiCat member beginning Friday, March 24th, 2017.

Congratulations to the Nitro ShowCats for placing in the top three in Asheville Ohio, Teays Valley High School Show Choir Competition this past weekend. The ShowCats rocked the stage, as Hayley Magann was awarded Outstanding Performer, and Louisa Smith was awarded Overall Outstanding Female Soloist. Finally, the Nitro ShowCats brought home 1st runner up to Grand Champion. Way to go ShowCats! You make Nitro proud, and are a great representation of our fine students at Nitro High School.

Baseball Tickets

Tickets for the opening baseball game which will be held on Friday, March 17th will be on sale during both lunches on Friday. Cost for a student ticket is $4.

Also, tickets for the opening softball double-header which will be held on Saturday, March 18th, will be sale during both lunches on Friday. Cost for a student ticket is $4.

Showcats

At Loveland Ohio, on February 25th, The Nitro ShowCats were awarded 2nd in their class, moved on to finals, and were awarded 4th runner up to Festival Grand Champions. John Brumley was awarded outstanding male soloist, and Angel Graham was awarded Outstanding Performer.

On March 4th, Louisa Smith was selected as a participant on the West Virginia Music Educators Honors Concert and was also selected as a member of the West Virginia All State Chorus.

On March 10th, 27 members of the ShowCats and SophistiCats were selected to the Kanawha County All County Chorus where they performed an outstanding concert, and made Nitro proud, wearing their brand new robes. Louisa Smith was selected as a soloist for Bridge Over Troubled Water, and Chelyan Smith was selected as a member of an Octet featured on It Takes a Village. Way to go Kids.

Talent Show

At Nitro High School we know we have tons of wildcats who have hidden talents. Wednesday, April 19th Nitro will be holding their own TALENT SHOW right here, during school--get excited.

March 22 we will start gathering talented acts who are interested in competing in this year's NHS TALENT SHOW. Be getting your acts together and coming up with a plan--more info later on when and how to sign up!
